Upon entering a department store, you will undoubtedly become bombarded with a sea of beauty products. When confronted with a myriad of items, it can be difficult to make a decision. Just realize that there are only a few, basic beauty supplies that every woman should own. Following is a detailed account of some of the essentials.

The Perfect Foundation

Before you begin applying any cosmetics, you must make sure that you build the perfect base. This is the intended purpose of foundation. When applied correctly, foundation can smooth and even out the skin tone. It can even melt away the appearance of facial flaws. The most important aspect to selecting a foundation is getting the color right. Ideally, foundation should match the exact color of your skin. It is best to test along your jaw-line. If you are still experiencing complications, never be afraid to seek help. Simply stroll into the nearest cosmetics store and ask a sales associate for assistance. They are usually more than happy to help you. Once you have found the perfect color, you must select the correct formula for you. If you are generally pleased with the appearance of your skin, try a light-coverage formula. If you find your skin to be somewhat flawed, go for the medium coverage. Full-coverage foundation works best for problem skin. However, if you choose to wear full-coverage foundation, make sure you utilize a light touch during application. Too much foundation can look cakey. Also, remember to opt for a foundation with an SPF of 15 or greater.

Eyelash Curlers

No beauty product opens up the eyes like an eyelash curler. These curlers flip the eyelashes out and give the illusion that eyes are brighter and larger. Most eyelash curlers are fairly similar and can be found almost anywhere – even at the local drug store. When using this product, always be sure that you curl the eyelashes before you apply any mascara. If you attempt to curl the lashes afterward, you run the risk of your lashes sticking to the curler and getting pulled out. Also, use a gentle touch while curling; you never want to risk damaging or breaking the lashes.

Clear Lip Gloss

Lip gloss is by far one of the most versatile cosmetic items. On a casual day, you can apply lip gloss by itself. Gloss just adds a finishing touch to any look. However, if you are wearing a full face of makeup, try applying clear lip gloss over your lip color; it is great for adding extra polish and shine.

Overall, just realize that you never need an abundance of products to look your best. When you know exactly what you want, you never need to feel intimidated upon entering a store again.
