Poetry: Not what I remembered

by Elizabeth Elia

Created on: May 08, 2011

I look in your eyes

I want to see the boy I fell in love with

But he’s gone

That boy became a man

You are not

What I remembered

You are not who

I learned to love

I’ve spent years

Thinking about you

But all I thought was true

Turned out to be a fantasy

I still love that boy

From all those years ago

But he’s gone

And maybe so am I
