Going back to dating and the single life is definitely harder than I thought it would be. After breaking up with a girl that I was with for over 4 years, I didn't date or see anyone for over a year!
Finally, my good friend Cheryl talked me into going out on a blind date. Cheryl and I have always been good friends, and we have always been as close as brother & sister. I was really down after my last break-up and I was having trouble getting back into the whole dating scene. So Cheryl sets me up on a blind date with a co-worker of hers. She knew what kind of women I am attracted to, so she committed me to this date before she even told me about it. She also told me that this girl was fairly new to the area, and had been too swamped at work to get out and meet anyone. Since Cheryl has known me since the second grade, I trusted her & knew that this girl would definitely be a real knock out!
Cheryl had set everything up and had really talked me up to this girl. She reminded me several times that this date was exactly what I needed to get over this slump. She wrote down my blind date's home address on a small piece of paper, along with the girl's name, it was April. Cheryl told me to pick her up at 7:00pm, and reminded me the importance of being on time.
Since I was unfamiliar with the part of town that April lived in, I headed out at around 6:15pm. I stopped at the 7-Eleven and grabbed some gum, condoms (just in case!), and a Big Gulp. In the excitement and apprehension of the moment, I realized I had forgotten my cell phone at home. It was too late to head back home & get it, so I nervously proceeded on.
As I turned into the housing development where April lived, I got cut off by some snob in a Lincoln Navigator. While swerving to miss the car, my Big Gulp tipped over and soda poured out all over the passenger seat, and all over the piece of paper with April's address on it.
I quickly pulled over and grabbed the soaked paper from the seat and waved it in the air, hoping that it didn't cause the ink to run. As I shook off most of the dampness, I noticed that the address was completely smudged. All I could make out was a four digit number that ended with 02 and the first few letters of the street name were: H I L L.
With that I proceeded to frantically drive through the streets of the housing development. I finally came upon a HILLCREST DRIVE. I slowly drove down the street and came upon a house number of 6102. There was no car out front, but the side door of the house
