Blogs are a very big part of life these days for individuals promoting a business, service or many other types of things. Keeping a blog can take a lot of time however, because there is a need for constant maintenance, fresh content and for finding ways of driving traffic to the blog. In order to cut the amount of work down for one particular individual, group blogs have been formed.
Group blogging can be in the form of one blog or a chain of blogs. They have multiple contributors posting content on them and may even invite special guest bloggers. These group blogs have been a great solution for a variety of situations but for any and all of them, there are pros and cons.
Pros of Group Blogging
The pros of group blogging often outweigh the cons if the work is done correctly. There are a number of different pros to having a group blog and while not all of them pertain to every given situation, the majority of them can.
Content: It is imperative for the blog’s existence to have a continuous flow of fresh content. The content has to be well-written which means that some time has to be put into it. Always updating a blog with good quality content takes hours. When this work is split up between a group of people, there is less time taken for each individual without the blog having to suffer. There can be a number of posts uploaded every day giving the blog the content that it needs without causing too much grief for one individual person.
Followers: Having one person writing the blog generally means that the person’s friends will visit the site. When there is a group of people writing for that one blog, there are more friends to visit regularly, not to mention the connection of those friends. There is a great chain of reaction for readership to start with and these visits will improve the overall popularity.
Concentration: Blogs are usually written surrounding a topic whether it is large or small. Writing a blog alone can lead to a person writing on a rant or a tantrum. The blog might be a well-written blog but it may not be particularly professional or well-focused on the topic that the blog is concentrated on. With a number of writers focusing on the topic, it helps to keep everyone on that same subject.
Expansion: Sometimes there are cases when one topic becomes slightly mundane and there are more ideas required to pick up the interest. Having a number of different minds instead of one can help with this flow of ideas. This can add a refreshing
