Poetry: Diva

by Karla Parker

Created on: May 06, 2011

Look at you, with your style all your own

flashing, wasn't your thing,

it showed. A smile that

could light any room.

No one knew you could be gone

any soon. But you did, and you're still here

playing with the family, fighting at the job,

resting easy.

When you went, i couldn't believe, it seemed

so unreal staring at you as you sleep.

This wasn't the family's diva, oh no.

Though she dressed in her blues, and adorned with

jewelry she would love.  This, this was just

the "room" she decorated. It wasn't her.

She's looking down at the family, and

sitting while she rests.

Watching what we watched,

laughed when we laughed,

and was even there to wipe the tears.

Watching us grow, and waiting for us to join her
