Reasons not to judge America by its advertising media

"You mean every night is not a party night for you guys in this country" I asked my American colleague
"No its not. Every girl here is not Paris Hilton. A regular girl attends school, goes to university and become engineers or doctors also" clarified she.

Coming form a third-world country , I have always pictured America as a country where every single person drive their own SUV'S ,eat just burger and flush it down with coke, resides in houses as big as palace , goes on a cruise every year, is a party animal. In short, leads a jet-set kind of life style. I believe the blame of this misconception; rest heavily on the advertising media.

The advertisers try to present before you a glossy picture for their own gains. But its only after I started living in this country I realized that America is not all about "Sex and the city", but as shown in " Everybody loves Raymond " , an average American do value family ties, enjoy festivals together , derive pleasure in small things of life. Just like any other country in the world natural calamities occur here also, people get struck in traffic jams, get sacked from their jobs, get mugged , fall sick, rendered homeless due to some hurricane. Inspire of these problems, Americans do struggle for their survival, nothing is god-sent.

I believe America is highly misconceived country. This country is not just about botox and slimming capsule, it's also a country which pioneer in discovering other life saving drugs.
American media sometimes go overboard and give an incomplete and partial picture. It should really try to capture the true sprit of America which resides in its people, who are one of the sweetest ,open-minded and friendly people one can ever come across .Media should project its resources, its culture, its natural wonders,. To get the the true picture of this great country, judge America not by its media but by your own experience.
