The drama of young girls and why it's important to listen

Growing up is not easy. Unfortunately we can forget this at times when we become adults. Think back to when you were a young girl. How important was it for you to be listened to?
I know that my own experience growing up would have been different had I been listened to a little more often. I have celiac disease and although I've always suffered I was only diagnosed at 25 years old. For years I told my family and friends that I was ill but nobody seemed to want to listen and worse still, said I was imagining it. When you feel sick nearly everyday it's not fun and to have everyone say you're imagining it makes you feel ten times worse. Had people listened to me more back then, I would have avoided a lot of health problems over the years.
Listening is so much more than just taking the time to listen. Young girls want to know the answers to lots of questions but may not feel confortable asking them. You have to listen for what's not said as much as what is.
Drama is part of growing up. An arguement with a friend, breaking up with a boyfriend, having trouble at school and any one of the numerous other issues a young girl may have to deal with, are to her the biggest thing in the world. Listen and help her grow and learn about life the right way.
