The joy of making your own jewelry

Making your own jewelry is exciting and very rewarding. Imagine creating a unique expression of yourself and the satisfaction you will feel from having put in the time, effort and creativity. Think about how many different looks you can create for yourself just by making a few pieces of jewelry. Consider wearing accessories you created to remember special moments and talking to others as you share your memories.

Accessorizing Your Wardrobe

Creating your own jewelry allows you to make accessories that match your wardrobe. With the vast array of beads that are available you know for sure that the color, shape, size, texture, and style of each piece will be exactly the way you want them to be. You can create several pieces that you wear interchangeably with one outfit. The possibilities are endless and each new accessory you create will give you a different look when paired with different outfits.

Creating Fashionable Medical Bracelets

Many people wear medical bracelets. Did you know you can purchase just the ID tag then attach your own bracelet to it? If you have to wear a medical bracelet, why not make it fashionable? You can even create them so they are interchangeable. Using just one ID tag, you can create different medical bracelets to wear with different outfits and you can make them as casual or as formal as you like!

Preserving Memories

When people think of preserving memories they often think of pictures, videos, and scrapbooks.  While these are great ways to capture meaningful moments, making jewelry can be a creative expression of a memory. For example, if you witness a beautiful sunrise you could create jewelry that reminds you of that moment. Not only can you choose similar colors; you could also choose beads that have a similar shape to objects that surrounded you at the time, such as rocks. When you wear the jewelry you will remember the image and if people comment on it you could share your experience with them. The jewelry then becomes a conversation piece.

The inspiration to create my own jewelry came in large part from my best friend of more than three decades. She has since passed away. I keep her memory alive by continuing the hobby she inspired me to try. This is one way to preserve my memories of her, and one of many reasons I enjoy making my own jewelry. Whether you want to create new looks for your wardrobe or creatively express memories, you too can discover endless joy in making your own jewelry!
