I don't think the real question here is, "Should we approve?" I think it is more of a question of do we have the right to deny them. I don't think that we do.

One of the biggest arguments I hear is that the law defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Well, yes it does. However, laws can be changed. Once the law stated it was perfectly acceptable to own another human being. In owning them, it was okay to beat, starve, rape and kill them. Not a law now, is it?

The only other excuse you hear is that the Bible forbids homosexuality. Not only is there the separation of church and state, but look at when the Bible was written and by whom. In that same book of the Bible it also says things like, if a woman bears a son, she is unclean for 33 days, but with a daughter it's 66 days. It says that if a man marries a woman and the woman's daughter, they must all be burned to death, that a man who sleeps with another man's wife they must be put to death, etc and so on. Most people in this day and age would never consider following such laws. We disregard them completely. Religious people, many of which come from a religion which allows the molestation and rape of young boys, use the one law that is convenient for their purposes.

We have no true basis for refusing them. Let's just get over ourselves. It should be their choice, not ours.
