The ability to rush in Call of Duty Black Ops can be an incredibly useful tactic if you learn how to perform it correctly. Rushing is basically the technique of storming your opponents by running around the map, shooting your opponents before they have the time to even raise theirs. There are specific perks, weapons, and equipment that support rushing. The only times that rushing isn't ideal is on larger maps, or if most of your opponents are staying back from the battle and waiting to pick off your teammates.

One of the main things you need to realize while rushing is your opponents could always be right behind you. When you are, there is almost nothing you can do to save yourself. For this reason, when rushing, you should use the map to your advantage. If you are able to stay out of the open and remain moving constantly, it will be more difficult for opponents to shoot you from behind. What you are trying to do is either flank your opponents, or catch them off guard from the front.

When creating classes for rushing, you will most likely want to use the Marathon perk, which allows you to run for longer durations, the Lightweight perk, which allows you to move faster, and the Sleight of Hand perk, which allows you to reload faster, and if you upgrade it to the pro version, you will be able to aim down the sights faster. As far as equipment goes, usually the Semtex grenade is the most effective, as it explodes faster than a frag grenade.

When choosing your gun, submachine guns or shotguns are usually the most effective, since they offer lethal firepower in close-combat situations. However, you can experiment with other types of guns in order to create a class that suits your playing style best. Assault rifles, light machine guns, and sniper rifles usually aren't used in rushing since they aren't as mobile as submachine guns. This means they will slow your player down, and you won't be able to shoot as fast.

Although there are guidelines to rushing, such as using specific perks or weapons, it is up to the individual gamer to experiment with different guns and perks in order to create a class that compliments their style the best. One of the most common guns used in rushing are the AK74u, the MAC-11, and the Vector. In all, when you are rushing, it is important to use a class that you are most comfortable with, make sure you are constantly moving, and maintaining keen senses so you can spot your opponents before they spot you.
