Patanase is a medication used for those individuals with allergies. Although Patanase has been thought to be relatively safe there are necessary precautions you should take. There are also specific allergic reactions that you should definitely know about before you consider taking Patanase. Patanase is an antihistamine. It works effectively by blocking the histamine in the body and this usually reduces allergy symptoms, particularly nasal symptoms.
Before you take Patanase you should consult with your doctor. if you have any kind of non-allergic conditions that affect the inside of your nose then you need to ask your doctor about your safety in regards to taking Patanase. While taking Patanase you must avoid consuming alcohol. It is also imperative that you take appropriate caution while driving or any other activity that requires you to be both alert and awake. This is because Patanase is known to have side effects that can directly impair your thinking. You should also let your doctor know if you are allergic to olopatadine. It is also unknown whether olopatadine is dangerous to unborn babies. For this reason, pregnant women should consult with a doctor before taking Patanase. It is possible to overdose with Patanase so be careful to watch your intake. If you happen to miss a dosage make sure that you do not attempt to make up for it by taking additional medicine. Simply wait until your next dosage and then take the SAME amount that you have been taking. Do not increase your dosage.
If you are already taking Patanase there are some things that you should watch out for. Here are the list of side effects that are possible while on this allergy medication. If you have nosebleeds, sores inside your nose, stomach pain, burning when you urinate or pain when you urinate then you should contact your doctor immediately and stop taking Patanase. These side effects are not as serious but can still be cause for concern: drowsiness, bitter taste in your mouth (not necessarily a dangerous thing but rather common), headaches, dry mouth, sore throat, coughing, runny nose, sneezing, cold symptoms, weight gain, nausea, and diarrhea.
Remember that if you an extremely dangerous side effect call: 911 (for emergency response) or 1-800-222-1222 (poison control).
