Humor: Things to do in Wal-Mart

Ah Wal Mart, many of us cannot avoid going there no matter how hard we try. True there are more classy stores out there that sell similar products, but many towns opt to put in "the mart" and we call ourselves lucky not to have to drive an extra 20 minutes just to shop somewhere. While many of us come through checkout and nearly set our checkbook/credit cards on fire... there is a certain entertainment value to such a store.

What can one do to amuse oneself in Wal Mart? To help combat the guilt or worry over spending so much for a household per month in such a store? Here are some ideas:

People Watch. Oh yes you've heard of the website, People of Walmart! You will see anything from people riding around in motor chairs, people dressed in inappropriate outfits, people acting strangely or just... people out of their dang mind! At any given trip to Wal Mart such a humorous person is likely to be walking in an aisle near you! A person who you can go home and write a really funny facebook status about! A person to make you look at yourself and say, "Heh, maybe I don't have it so bad!"

Aimlessly Browse. Wal Mart is a great place to kill time. If you are waiting to pick someone up from an appointment or just want to get out of the house for a while, that is the place to do it! Heck, many times I go in there for only a few items only to become distracted by a display and then think... "Oh gee, did I need this too?" If you're not careful, the store can become kind of a brainwarp of consumerism. The sound of the nearby checkout counter, the random displays... you are lost in the Wal Mart zone!

Make birthday/Christmas lists. While walking around, you can get an idea what to get friends and family members for holiday gifts. There is something for every budget. Whether you get an expensive video game system or something simple like clothing or toys, there is certain to be something for just about everyone to cover your shopping needs. Best of all, if you're really stumped what to give, you can always buy them a gift card.

Amuse yourself viewing stressed out moms. To those of us who have children, a trip to Wal Mart can be like a war zone. We want to get in/out of there with as little casualties to our pride and pocketbook as we can. This is not easy if you have a preschooler and/or toddler and baby along. Moms at Wal Mart have to figure out how to haul their youngsters through the store and how to concentrate on particular items all while keeping their brood under control. Many times you may see a mother at her wits end- about to snap from telling her child, "No" over and over again. On such days, I just look at that mom and say to myself, "Gee I'm glad I left the kids with their father today!"

So if you're bored, need some household items, would like a good laugh or any/all of the previous, head on down to your local Wal Mart. Good times sure to follow.
