Budgeting is always an important part to any business but so is marketing. For a lot of businesses, the marketing takes up a large portion of the funds that are available in the budget. With the internet being so popular and with there being so many options available online, using this tool is a great way to cut costs on this aspect.

There is a wide variety of low-cost marketing techniques that you can use to successfully promote your business. Some of them take a bit of know-how but they aren’t too difficult when you put the time into learning and practicing them.

Blogs

Blogs are becoming more popular with home businesses for a variety of reasons. They are free forms of promotion and any business in particular can have a lot of them. Most blogs are free these days although if time is an issue you may need to pay someone to maintain it. These are generally user-friendly so you can maintain and update them yourself if so desired.

It is recommended that you update the blogs frequently and consistently. The blog posts should be informational while not being too self-promotional. Hyperlinks can be used to direct traffic to a sales site or other such site that is connected to your business.

Affiliate Websites

These websites do not have to be run by other people. It is just a matter of you having different websites that advertise the product or service that can direct the individual to the actual sales site. This gives you a better presence on the web while still keeping costs low.

Article Distribution

Submitting articles to various directories for distribution is one of the most powerful tools being used to promote home businesses at the moment. There are dozens of distribution sites such as ArticlesBase.com, eHow.com and many more. These sites are free to use. You only have to create an account for yourself and start submitting the articles.

You can include hyperlinks in the text as well as add something about yourself and your website at the bottom. When these articles have the right keywords, relevant information, and are well-written, you can bring a lot of traffic to your website and potentially turn them into paying customers.

Email Signatures

Email signatures are optional for most email accounts. The signature is at the bottom of the email that is being sent. You can write the content how you please and include a link to your website. This is a good way to let people know that your business exists and it will remind them every time that they
