There’s an old man sitting beside the train station
He used to work there, but his sight floundered, he was let go
He’s holding a sign
The sign says “I’m hungry, anything will help, God bless”
People don’t look at him
They just walk away
There’s a homeless mother with three children
Her husband has left her; she has no idea where he’s gone
The children are hungry and crying for food
She’s holding a sign
The sign says “We’re hungry, anything will help, God bless”
People avert their eyes
Then they just walk away
There is a man in rags so dirty he is, sitting by the grocery store
He once was a CEO and then the company went bankrupt
His home, car and family all disappeared
He’s holding a sign
The sign says “I am hungry, anything will help, God bless”
People don’t see him
They just walk away
There’s young man just back from Iraq
He has lost a leg, hit by a roadside bomb
He doesn’t have enough to pay rent, electricity or buy food
He’s got a sign
The sign says “I’m hungry, anything will help, God bless”
People pretend he’s not there
They just walk away
So many people are just one paycheck away
From being hungry or loosing their homes
Will you be next to hold the sign, with hunger in your belly?
Will you feel the desperation
As you watch as the people just walk away?

Walk away from anger,
walk away from sin
Walk away from demons
struggling to win.
Walk away from darkness
walk away from hate

A Love That Never Fails
There’s a love that never leaves me,
Though I turn and walk away.
While I run among the wicked,
If I lacked emotion and could, I'd walk away,
Leave explanations and penance for another day.
It'd be a day put off until
Loss of Innocence
i wear no clothes at the river,
returning to nature as a sad lover
touching earth skin to skin.
