When you look our wedding picture
Do you remember us?
When you look at yourself in the mirror
Where am I?
Remember us?
We were so happy at one time
Then you said we were through
Do you remember us?
When you look at yourself
Who is that in the mirror?
The old man without the old woman
Remember us?
We were going to grow old together
Just me and you
With the kids grown, they would visit
After they left it was only us
Do you remember us?
Remember us?
Just me and you
And no one else
We’d make love in the daytime
Night time and in-between times
We said we’d grow old together making love
Do you remember us?
What happened to us?
We were the ‘it’ couple
The one couple who would never break up
Where one was, so was the other
Our names were never uttered alone
Remember us?
No? You can’t remember a time when we were together
No remembering us
It’s always been you and you alone
You were selfish and didn’t like to share your time with me
I wasn’t part of your life plan and you never wanted me to be
You put on a great show for all to see, even me
Never us…no you can’t remember us as there never was “an us”
It was always you and you alone
Something I don’t remember
Maybe I made up us
Come to think of it…
There never was us was there?

We came to end

Today, not one will heed the gun;
No cause will be upheld.
For silence owns a battlefield,
Among charred flesh and shells.

Remember us
I stared at the red, the blue, the white.
At the wind ridden cloth that glistened in the morning light.
The dew
The photograph of Ellis Island
shows many faces
some frowning, some smiling.
Remember us, say the faces;
A collection of
Remember us when we are worn out battle scars,
Signaled by crosses on a graveyard overseas,
Or when you look from earth toward
