I met you last summer on licks of the ocean waves
You brought me a seashell
And presented it like a fresh picked rose
I was impressed and felt a spark
We walked and talked for hours on end
And felt we knew each other always
Last summer we spent every day at the ocean
Together we shared secrets and family life
We had picnics on the top of the dunes
We would sit around a bon fire during the evenings
With friends all around partying away
We laughed and shared good times
Last summer when we first met
You were the perfect man for me
We talked about a future
Next year you would come back here and so would I
We’d meet again at the ocean’s wind
Last summer you promised you come back
We’d be together
I came back this summer
You were not here
I sat in the sand and waited
You said last summer that you’d come back
You told me you would
You promised me
Last summer…
