I have written about this very subject in the not-to-distant past. It is a subject near and dear to my heart, because I believe very strongly that political parties are ruining the future of America. In order to decide whether outlawing organized political parties is a step in the right direction, we must first ascertain what it is that political parties are about.
In the US, there are two major political parties, followed by a host of smaller, seemingly insignificant parties. The Republican and Democratic parties are the two main groups in our nation, and like it or not, they hold the power in this government of ours. Individual party ideologies really aren't the concern in this topic, as the question is to make an argument for outlawing political parties in the US. That is a relatively simple task, once we understand the principles behind every political party.
Political parties are formed when individuals of similar ideologies decide to join in union to harness their resources towards a common goal. Remember the old adage; there's strength in numbers. Political parties live by this concept. In fact, in the face of other, possibly more important ideals, everything a political party does is bent towards gaining an overwhelming strength in numbers, especially in a democratic republic such as ours. If you have more votes, you win the issue at stake; it's that simple.
The end goal of every political party, be they Republican, Democratic, Green, or other, is power without opposition. Simply stated, the goal of every political party is Totalitarianism. That might seem to be a rather alarming comment on political parties; nevertheless, it is the truth.
If you look at the facts, you will see that totalitarianism can be the only final outcome every party aims towards. In the US, free elections are held for local, State, and Federal branches of government. In each instance, political parties work to support members of their group toward winning an election. Each member is more or less married that party's ideology. While each member may have differing views, in the quest for a common goal those views are often compromised. In fact, if you investigate the voting records in the US Senate and Congress, you will see that the welfare of the nation is often compromised for the sake of the political party. Partisan politics, more than the needs of the people, is what governs this nation. For that reason alone, eliminating political parties is a necessity.
