The age of a person in relationship can make a big difference because people think about things different. I have a lot of friends who always have a different idea than their mate because of being older or younger. The ideal relationship is based around both of them doing things together they both like to do. Couples who are ten years or more than their mate will always think they are happy most of the time. These people will always have other friends that like to do the same things that people their age do. The older or younger mate will try to do what their mate is wanting to do for fun. Sometimes this does not work because of the age difference.
The first thing I noticed after marrying a younger women we did not like the same type of music. She never said anything about the music I had on the radio while we were dating. There was only a few songs we both wanted to hear so she always wanted to change the station. We also started going to different places when we went dancing. We have only been to one band concert together since we have been married. She now goes to hear bands with her girl friends her age and this is alright with me. When we take trips we change the radio all the time.
As we got older our interest in things we did together changed. I have loved boating all my life and I try to go boating any time I can. We don't do much of anything together but go shopping for things we need for the house. In the first part of our marriage she was ready to go boating every weekend. She now likes to do more things her age group likes doing.
If there is a big enough age difference when the older person retires first and the other mate is still working, they will never be doing anything together. The younger person who is still working will be tired when they got off work and they will want sit down for a while. The older person has been home all day and they want to go do something. I found this to be true with all couples even if they are single.
