Wind is screeching outside the window
Scratching leaves past each room
Debris-filled whirlwinds form between buildings
Spinning, spinning, breaking against the walls
The air is hazy, the sky is hidden by grey
Spaces between gusts are heavy with silence
Wintry deadness fills the outdoors
But total chaos reigns within
The static consumes me, breaking me down
Demands pierce me from all directions
Work and school and family and home
They push, pull, incessantly calling
No moment to rest, no haven to shelter
The weight is unbearable, I bow beneath it
The responsibilities, expectations, the needs
I don't want to disappoint at all
Couldn't bear to let anyone down
Thus I come to you, broken and weary
Seeking comfort in your warmth and strength
Draw me close, shut out the world a moment
Give me peace and rest and love
When all around me the chaos threatens
Let me rely on you: just hold me

The rays will peak soon to bathe us in light,

I know you should be packing
I know there are a million things that you want to do
Before you leave, before you deploy, before

Just Hold Me
Fever 101
Runny nose
Hot red cheeks
“Just hold me,’” she said.
Before climbing into bed.
