Whether you are screaming your way down Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach, or floating quietly down Castaway Creek at Typhoon Lagoon, there is no doubt there is something for everyone at Disney’s Water Parks in Orlando, Florida.

Blizzard Beach’s theme is based on a freak snow storm that has hit Florida. The quaint scenery grabs your attention when you walk in. High above the atmosphere is a ski resort that looks like it has dropped from the sky right into the Florida heat. It is host to Summit Plummet, one of the world’s fastest, tallest free-falling waterslides. A unique chair lift transports guests to the top of Mount Gushmore where riders can race on the Downhill Double Dipper, Slush Gusher or plunge down Runoff Rapids.

The Downhill Double Dipper is like an Olympic downhill ski race. It pits racers against each other and drops them down a 50-foot high slide with speeds clocking in at about 25 miles per hour. Slush Gusher takes your breath away as it sends you down a 90-foot tall waterslide with a few rolling hills to glide over along the way. Runoff Rapids offers three different waterslides, so grab an inner tube and explore them all. If you are really feeling adventurous take a ride on Summit Plummet. This slide is a high speed waterslide that has a 12-story drop. Hang on to your bathing suit, that is a 120 foot drop.

For the tamer at heart there is a slow flowing stream called Cross Country Creek, a one-acre wave pool, and Tike’s Peak for the younger kids. There is also Ski Patrol Training Camp, which has a variety of activities for bigger kids and teens.

There are several places throughout the park to get a quick snack, small meal, or quench your thirst during your visit. Hot dogs, pizza, and salads are some of what is on the menu. Don’t forget to try one of Disney’s famous turkey legs while you are at it.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon’s theme is based in a very tropical setting after a storm of all storms. This park hosts Crush “n” Gusher, a roller coaster type of raft ride that is a must see, along with Humunga Kowabunga, a five story, fully enclosed waterslide that will have you screaming from top to bottom.

When it is time to relax head over to the beautiful, white sandy beach near the wave pool and stretch out in a hammock or lounge chair. Listen to the waves crash as you close your eyes and unwind. Large waves hit shore every 90 seconds. If it is too hot, cool off in Castaway Creek. Here you can float on an inner tube through cool mists and lush rainforests.

After you are rested head to Shark Reef. Here is where you will swim with Bonnethead sharks, stingrays, and other beautiful tropical fish. All the snorkel equipment you need is provided free of charge. Before you leave the park make sure you ride Mayday Falls and all three storm slides.

If you are ready for a snack you can go to several quick service restaurants, a pool bar, or there are two picnic areas if have brought your own food. There are locker rentals, dressing rooms and showers at both locations. It is a good idea to wear water shoes, and bring plenty of sunscreen to avoid burning.

If you are planning a trip to Florida make sure you visit one of the Disney Water Parks. It doesn’t matter which park your family chooses. You will be bringing home memories that last a lifetime.
