I remember it like it was yesterday. The day my dad took me to see my first car. Just months before, I was thrilled that I joined the millions of people who are not dependent on anyone else to take them to and from where they need to go. I passed my road test, and I was able to call myself a licensed driver, and that meant so much.
What an accomplishment, I thought. My freedom was at my fingertips, and all I had to do was retrieve my keys from my purse, and travel the roads around me. Well, so I thought. It later dawned on me that I was not in possession of my own car at that time, and my dreams of unending freedom were quickly fading. I needed to get my thoughts in order, and search for my source of fast mobility, another words my own car.
I babysat in my teen years, and I learned to be responsible with money. This frugality gave me the opportunity to save my hard earned paychecks in the bank. I realized that at that point it was feasible to buy a car, and my goal of car ownership was within reach. I was young, and had little expenses, a teen with a clear head. I told my parents my plan to look for the car of my dreams, and they were supportive of me, because, I did display a good sense of responsibility for a teenager.
With my dad's help, we checked the classifieds, and asked around about car deals. I wanted a Camaro, but, my dad told me it was a little unrealistic. We visited many used car lots, and searched for my first car. I knew I would know the car when I saw it, but, it was hard being patient with the intense search. One Friday evening, my dad informed me that he found a car that had just arrived at the lot the day before. He did not give me much details, but, I was ready the next morning at the crack of dawn to venture on this little excursion to check out this potential prospect.
We arrived at the destination, and to my surprise there it was, my first car. It was beautiful. A forest green color, that was chipping in spots, but, for some reason I looked right past that. I was never a big fan of the color green either, but, my car wore it well. It was sitting in a spot by itself, with its sporty look all aglow. The interior was jet black, with bucket seats. It was clean, and looked sharp. It was simply heaven on earth, and I didn't hesitate
