I yearn for last summer
My youth revisited me
While picking wild flowers in the field
I saw him walk to me
I stood quiet, unable to speak
My legs were shaky,
They felt so weak
My heart hammered
Blood rushed to my head
I felt dizzy, forgot to breathe
He reached for my hand
His face so close
Our breath mingled
As he smiled at me
He pulled me close
He lowered his head
Hard lips now soft
Caressed mine
I tasted his lips
Sweet nectar like strawberry wine
Gently he lowered me to the ground
I, suddenly felt shy,
It was silly, I don’t know why
His white teeth flashed a mischievous grin
Understanding, he winked at me
Then I gave in
I yearn for last summer
When my youth revisited me
Fifty years faded as he walked to me
My husband, my love, my life
