Beneath the Surface
It lurks beneath the surface out of sight,
A beast who feeds on impulse loosely chained.
It’s home to where the madness wrestles light,
An anger rising from the depths of pain.
With no restraint it strikes without remorse,
Consuming all within a mindless rage.
It won’t relent until it runs its course,
Such anger held within can’t long be caged.
Who reasons with a man that serves the flames?
His words burn long and harsh upon the hearth.
The anger fills the emptiness in vain,
Until renewed again by life of worth.
The beast remains illusion for alive,
Within tormented souls where anger thrives.
