Remember our struggle, long ago during a civil war.
One, way before any of us was born that lives today.
Fought between north and south, yes about four score.
What has any battle won, between brothers and sons?
Does anyone remember what the battle was waged for?

Have there been other wars, which have been fought as well.
Yes indeed, many, many others with all kinds of gore.
Ghosts of the past, gather in the realm of misery today.
Shouting out to say, remember us, each of them implores.
