“Remember us” said the birds, “when we are gone from blackened skies,
Who will serenade you when the music dies?”
“Remember us” said the fish, “when we drown in oily seas,
To join sunken fossils in their murky grave”.
“Remember us” said the flowers, wilted on parched dead land,

“Remember us” cried the children, haunting eyes, hollow and lifeless
Laughter a memory with no hope for the morrow
“What is this?” said the cockroach seeing the waste
“No sense hanging around, I don’t recognize the place.”
“Will you remember me?” wept the earth.
“Will you remember me . . . . ?”
