Hiccup are from the diaphragm muscle separating the chest cavity from the stomach. Then it goes into a small spasm. And the vocal cords close shut, making the hiccup sound. Hiccups can be triggered by indigestion, eating or drinking way to fast. Or laughing hard on a empty stomach. It can also be cause by being very tired. These are just a few of the problems that can cause the good old hiccups.

1. Ask someone to stand behind you. Get them to put each hand on your face on each
side of your cheeks. Then take each index finger put them on each side of your
nose. Then take each thumb and put them on each ear opening.
Then when your ready start to hold your breath. Close your mouth shut and

get them to push their index finger together on the open of your nose.
So they are pinching your nose shut with both
fingers. Then they are to press their thumbs on each opening of each ear. So
your ears are closed by their thumbs. Hold your breath for about
10 or 20 seconds and bam they are gone!

2. Put a half a teaspoon of sugar or honey under your tongue and let melt. You can hold your breath after you have swallow the sugar. The hiccups should subside within a minute.

3. Drink a glass of water while holding your breath. Once your done your water try holding your breath as long as you can Then let out the breath and if that doesn't work hold your breath again. This usually works.

4. Take a drink of water and hold it in your mouth, then plug your ears and
swallow the water while you have your ears plugged.

5. Go sit down and relax with your favourite show or music. The more you relax
the faster they will go away. You need to relax the throat so think happy thoughts and rest.

6. Meditate is another way to relax your throat. Start by relaxing your whole body then try to daydream them away.

7. Takes some deep breath while you relax. It will help the process go faster. But don't pant this will bring them on stronger.

8. Get someone to scare them out of you. Get them to make a loud noise or yell or
do something to startle you. Most of the time the person that scares you get the best part of helping. hehe

9. Close your eyes and push lightly and very gently on your eyeballs. Do this a couple of time and it should work to relax you. Then the hiccups should go away.

10. Gently pull on your tongue or push down the back of your tongue with your index finger. Or you could use a teaspoon. Do this for a few second and the hiccups should subside. This helps to relax the back of your throat.

11. Try swallowing dry bread crumbs or crushed ice. This helps to relax the throat too.

If a child hiccups that last longer than three hours you should call your doctor. Or if you as an adult has them more than 8 hours go see your doctor . The best thing to do when they come one don't get stress, try to relax and they will stop sooner than you think. Good luck
