Why eat out instead of eating in

Why eat out instead of eating in?

Everyone already knows the benefits of eating in.  Some of those benefits are healthier food and saving tons of money.  However, there are reasons for eating out as well.

One of the prime reasons for eating out is that it’s enjoyable and fun.  Many times when you are going out to eat it is with friends or family and is a social occasion of some sort.  Successful restaurants have spent a lot of time and effort to make eating at their establishments a fun and enjoyable experience, not to mention a tasty one as well.

Another reason many folks go out to eat is because it is much easier than cooking at home.  No need to learn how to cook or prepare foods.  No clean up necessary.  No need to buy the tools and appliances necessary for food preparation.  In some times and places, such as dorm rooms, the cooking and food storage facilities are either non-existent or sub par so eating out is preferable to trying to prepare food without proper facilities.

There are also times when folks are away from their home and kitchen and it wasn’t convenient to pack a meal along.  Which is another good reason for eating out.

For some special foods, in order for someone to cook them well at home they will need a lot of ingredients which aren’t usually kept in stock in their kitchen so eating out is less expensive than buying special supplies for just one meal.  Other special meals require special equipment which isn’t available at their home kitchen so eating out is preferable.

A lot of social occasions are marked by eating out.  When the team wins, it wouldn’t quite be the same unless there was some sort of celebratory feast somewhere.  Since most team players don’t have a house large enough to have everyone over, the celebratory meal is usually at a restaurant.

There are also business reasons for eating out.  Discussing a business deal over a meal is a much more friendly method of doing business.  You get to know your colleagues in a different fashion when you interact with them on social occasions such as eating out.

Eating out also allows folks to interact with each other in a stylized yet informal manner.  Asking someone out to dinner sets up a format for interaction where all the participants know the rules and it is done on neutral territory as well.

Probably the best reason for eating out is because humans are social animals and we enjoy it.  Do we really need any other reason than that?
