When we were together, I felt like I was trapped
I worked so hard to hide it, all my strength was sapped
Slowly, I felt myself going crazy
The world away from you seemed all hazy
Slowly I started to spiral downward
Now that your gone, the climb back up is almost too hard
I lived in a cage, like an animal at the zoo
No matter how hard it got, I couldn’t leave you
You had me trapped in your web of lies
My world was full of lows while yours was nothing but highs
As my cage grew smaller and smaller
I started to find it hard to even take care of our daughter
Then suddenly you decided to leave
I thought I would suddenly be free
But the binds you used to hold me so tight
Are the ones hidden out of sight
They are all still in my mind
Just when I think I have moved on, there is another one to find
Day to day I work my way through
And one day I will be free of you

Poetry: Being trapped
by Terrence Aym
The Box
Trapped in this box,
With a wheelless car.
Trapped in this box,
With a shattered star.
Trapped in this box,
It seems awfully
TRAPPED
Something is here,
inside me screaming,
its been awakened,
a hungry demon.
Realizing how alone it can be,
never
I thought you should know
That I don't know where to go
My heart is torn in two
And no, it's not because of you
I'm trapped
When we were together, I felt like I was trapped
I worked so hard to hide it, all my strength was sapped
Slowly, I felt myself
Under the ice
the water is so cold it burns
with illusory warmth.
Under the ice
I have become mere flotsam,
caught and held
