Poetry: Prisoners

  hallways of steel

i awoke one night
i thought it was over
but then i realized
i was still a prisoner
and i heard this voice
weary and wounded
of some poor soul
in solitary confinement
it echoed down
these hallways of steell
singing all about
the way that i feel
it moaned like a ghost
in search of a home
the voice of a man
that existed alone
we all have sorrow
mine is second to none
we all hope for tomorrow
we all search for love
and no one knows
the facts of our life
the path that brought us
to our present time
and if those facts
you do not know
then dont make judgements
or cast your stones
so while u exist
in your life of plenty
there are those who live
in desolation and poverty
who live their lifes
abused and in fear
and never could find
anyone who cared
i awoke one morning
in these hallways of steel
with no one knowin'
the way that i feel
