How to improve your PowerPoint presentations

presentation.

You can also insert clip art, MS Excel charts, and other animations to enhance your presentation. My suggestion here is that if you're going to use Excel charts (graphs, bar charts, etc.), try using links rather than embedding the charts in your presentation. This will let you go back later and update the charts in Excel and will save a lot of cutting, pasting, and time spent when it comes time to update your presentation.

'The rule of six'

As a rule of thumb, when deciding how much information to include on a particular PowerPoint slide, I like to go with "the rule of six. That means normally you should have no more than six items containing no more than six words each. You don't want your audience spending all their time trying to read your presentation. The place to be detailed is in your notes section when you're going through your presentation and preparing an actual script.

'A Parting shot'

The person who gets ahead in his or her chosen profession is the one with the best communication skills. If you're going to stand out and advance, you need to hone those writing and organization skills and round them off with a good oral presentation ability. It is worth your time to become proficient in PowerPoint, a technological wonder that makes us ordinary folks just trying to do a good job look like absolute professionals.
