Based upon the principles with which America was founded, same sex marriage should be perfectly fine in this country. It was founded on the principles that people should be able to have a place to practice their religion and beliefs, no matter what those beliefs are. Of course, there has to be some guidelines to make sure that a civil society remains in order and people don't go burning crosses in yards like the Ku Klux Klan did during heated racial times in the South.

The sexual discrimination that gays receive in America is similar to the racial discrimination that colored people recieved 50 to 100 years ago. I think when we look back on this in another 25 to 50 years we will view our past actions as wrong just like we did in times of racial segregation and hate.

I am by no means attempting to say that gay people face the same and identical hardships that colored people faced 50 years ago. But they do face societal challenges. They must conform to society, they do not have equal rights in regards to marriage in most states. They are often ostracized in society. Hate crimes are performed against them.

I feel one of the biggest reasons for this is judgement. I think people that hate gay people feel that being gay is wrong and not worthy. They typically get these thoughts from a spiritual or religious belief. People need to remember that it is not their job to judge. God's job is to judge. That is if you believe in God.

We could all get along a little better if we left the judgements up to God.
