There are so many promises in the Bible. Someone once told me there were over
7, 000 promises.
That's pretty remarkable.
When was the last time you made over 7, 000 promises to a friend or loved one? And,
of course, kept them.
God has.
"...but I don't have..."
Yes, you do!
By faith you do.
And if you're not 100% clear that God's going to deliver you need to start living in the Word or "abide" until it becomes clear ! The Bible states that if you'll abide in Him all these other things will be given.
"If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." John 15:7 (KJV)
Funk & Wagnall's standard dictionary says the word abide means "...to continue in a place; stay..." "...to dwell; reside..." "...to remain faithful or unchanging..." "to look for...""...await expectantly..."
So dust off the Bible, find the teaching tapes and get the calendar of events for your church.
Start reading, studying, praising, worshiping, praying, helping, attending and believing. The funny thing is the longer and harder you get into the Word the more you believe in it. So get it in your head. Get it in your heart. Get it all around you.
Now that doesn't mean you can slack off. You have do it with persistence.
You can't read and study and really get into everything the church has to offer then quit or decide it isn't working or something else stupid like that. You can't expect it to happen overnight, either
You have to dig in for the long haul.
Look, I'm a crafter and I'm pretty good at it. I've been doing it for years. I've read about it. I've listened to talks about it. I attended craft shows. I studied it. I talked about it. I even practiced. Everyday.
If I'd taken a few "breaks" and not been consistent, I wouldn't be as good at it as I am now.
Understand?
You aren't going to wake up the very next morning and find a new sports car in the driveway or a million dollars on your porch. It just doesn't happen that way.
You also can't pay attention to all the negative crap in this world. Or listen to all the "naysayers"(and, trust me , well-meaning friends and family are going be crawling out of the wood work to lovingly let you know you're being an idiot-ignore them).
You should be gaining some knowledge by now of who you are in Christ and getting confident in God's power and promises.
But if you don't feel strong enough to be around those folks. Leave...walk away.
And the same goes for world news. You want to surround yourself with only positive things, stay away from the negative ones. Period.
Don't give it a chance to creep into your thoughts until you're ready.
"... when will I know?.."
You'll know when the time is right.
A good way to remind yourself of all the wonderful things you're learning is to simply speak it.
It may feel a bit strange at first . That's ok. See, the more you'll say things that line up with the Word the more you believe. And the more you believe the more you'll say them and the more you'll say them.... and on and on. Get the idea?
As you abide in Him , He'll abide in you. That's a pretty cool thing.
That means it's not a one-way street. That means God's doing His part too.
It means He's right there on the scene.
He's not leaving you on your own.
He's "...to remain faithful and unchanging..." "... to continue in a place; stay..."
I don't know about you but I take real comfort knowing our Father s got my back. And He's not going anywhere, either.
I especially like the meaning in Funk & Wagnall's that says "...to look for..." "...to await expectantly..."
That's a byproduct.
You'll start believing and you know that you know... that you know... it's
coming and NO ONE can dissuade you from that!
And, then, it does .
