Not only are cats beautiful, elegant and amazing creatures, but they were once even rulers. In ancient Egypt, cats were worshiped as deities. People couldn't stop admiring their shining and mysterious eyes. The glow of the cats eyes intrigued and attracted humans. Nowadays, cats are pets to humans, rather than rulers.
If you are thinking about getting a cat as a pet, here are some reasons to support your decision:
*Inexpensive*
Having a cat for a pet costs very little money. Going to the vet will be the most expensive expense while owning a cat. They do not need much to be happy. Food, water, kitty litter box, and a few toys. Toys can be purchased at a dollar store, or even found around the home. Toilet paper rolls are a huge hit amongst cats, along with string.
*Easy Training*
When it comes to kitty litter training, it's a breeze. Cats are very fast learners. All it takes is showing them where their litter box is for a few days, and that's it! It typically takes no time to train a feline. They are very smart animals and need little guidance.
*Clean*
They are very clean animals and need very little grooming. Cats spend a large amount of time grooming themselves each day, therefor grooming is not completely necessary. It is however recommended to bathe a cat at least twice a year. Regular fur brushing is also recommended, especially for long haired cats.
*Independent*
Cats are very independent and rarely need tons of affection. Going on a mini vacation would not be a problem if you have a cat for a pet. All he or she will need is water and food left out. It's a good idea to have a family member or friend check on the cat. But, it's not often needed. Cats can defend themselves and do not need to rely a lot on humans.
*Stress relief*
It's been proven that cats can reduce stress and help your heart. Petting a cat helps you feel calmer and happier. Owning a cat can improve your mood, control blood pressure and even help with loneliness.
*Great First Pet*
Allowing a child to get a new pet can be an exciting experience, but for some parents it can also be a hassle. Most parents do not want their child's first pet to be messy, large and hard to look after. Little care goes into raising a cat and so much pleasure is derived from their company. That is why a cat makes a perfect pet choice, no matter what the age.
*Fantastic Companions*
Cats will listen to you cry, laugh and even sing. They will be there when you leave for work, and when you get back home. They will be your best friend, and love you unconditionally. There's nothing sweeter than having a pet for a companion, especially a cat. Their soothing purrs can make the worst of days better.
If you decide to get a cat for a pet, please consider adopting one from your local animal shelter. Thousands of cats get put to sleep yearly due to overpopulation. Adopting a cat from a humane society, an animal shelter, or an SPCA saves a life!
