Role play video games are some of the best types of video games to get entranced into. These games are usually full of rich stories and much to do in them, without the blood and gore of shoot’em ups. Many girls would enjoy playing a role playing game and here are the top picks for a girl who would like to steer clear of testosterone rich games.

Final Fantasy X (Playstation 2)

This game has been praised ever since it first came out on the market in 2001. Its beautiful colors and sharp graphics have been the pinnacle for almost all video games being introduced on the Playstation 2. Playing as a young sports jockey named Tidus, you are plunged into a whole new different world where you follow a pretty youthful summoner, a person who sends the dead to the next life, across a long journey. This game is easy to play with a gripping battle mode and bittersweet tale of love, tragedy, and death. Probably one of the best Final Fantasies to grace modern years.

Shadow Hearts (Playstation 2)

Although the game did not have the best graphics when it came out, it became a cult classic because of its intriguing and different story it had to offer. Playing as a young 24 year old street urchin named Yuri, you travel across the land finding out the mystery of a murder with leads to an alchemist named Roger Bacon. Yuri finds a woman named Alice who was threatened by the magician and they have been traveling together finding new friends on the way. This game has a turn based system like most RPGs and has a dark yet captivating atmosphere that will surely draw anyone in especially with its sweet yet sour ending.

Resonance of Fate (Playstation 3 and Xbox 360)

One of the newest RPGs since the dying of the genre, this quirky and cute game takes you in the role of three bounty hunters, Vashyron, Leanne, and Zephyr. With fluffy cut scenes and a fun mode where you can dress your three characters, this game definitely had a girl’s point of view added into it while it was in production. The battle system can be a bit tough at first as it involves lots of strategy and fast movements to keep your enemies at bay. With quite a mystery of a story and loads of game play, this game can last up to one hundred hours!

Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope (Playstation 3 and Xbox 360)

Star Ocean has been known to have an anime like plot with plenty of girlish appeal. The latest game has plenty of things to do and new sights to see. You play as Edge Maverick, a leading captain of the ship Calnus, who must discover life on other planets. It all turns down hill from there, and he and his childhood friend, Reimi, meet others from different walks of life along the way. The story can be a bit cliché but it can be pushed to the side since the riveting action RPG game play is definitely the best in the series.

Girls may find it hard to find that perfect RPG that has a good dosage of romance without the fluff, action, and most importantly a driven story and tons of gameplay.
