Today, getting a divorce seems to be easier than before, due to the ease of Internet access and the amount of online commerce that can take place within a whole day. As long as the divorce is mutual, there is not really the need to go through the time and money consuming formalities. With the price of gas climbing up gradually a few cents a day, why waste gas money driving all the way to your lawyer's office and/or the courthouse for the divorce? Provided that the divorce is mutual between yourself and your soon-to-be ex-spouse, you can get a divorce from the ease of your own home via an online divorce.
An eHow article called "How to File for Divorce Online" gives a quick and simple tutorial on what to do. Keep in mind that divorce laws differ from one state to another.
According to the article, the first thing you have to do is to log on one of the websites that deals in online divorces. There are several to choose from for the most part. Also, keep in mind that the divorce laws differ from one country to another.
The article explains that you have to determine if you meet the requirements of being able to get a divorce online. There are qualifications that have to be met. On those websites, you will be asked to do an online interview. You and the soon-to-be ex-spouse will both have to fill out the questionnaire.
On the website called Divorce Writer, there is a simple question form to fill out before you can start the proceedings. The answers you pick will determine if you qualify for the electronic/online divorce.
Afterwards, expect to have the completed forms mailed to you. You will receive instructions on what to do afterward. The eHow article suggests that in most cases you will never have to go to the courts and appear before the presiding judge. The final thing to do is to pay the service fees. You can do so online.
The pricing will differ by state and website service. On Legal Zoom, the standard pricing is $299. Through Legal Zoom, the $299 gives you services such as "completion of state-specific divorce documents for both spouses," "easy-to-follow instructions for making the divorce final," "marital settlement agreement," "lifetime toll-free phone and e-mail support," "name change for ex-wife to revert back to maiden name," and so forth.
On Divorce Writer, similar services have the regular price of $199 or $229. The former is for divorces without children and the latter is for divorces with minor children. However, there might be a special price that couples can take advantage of.
The website called Help Yourself Divorce (www.helpyourselfdivorce.com) gives an online kit for $149.
If you live in another country, you should still be able to file for a divorce online. In the case of the United Kingdom, you can visit Divorce Online. In the case of Australia, you can visit its website called "www.divorce.gov.au." In the case of Canada, you can visit "www.divorcecanada.ca."
Looking at these sites, there are numerous means to get an online divorce.
