Driving is a huge responsibility, even for the most capable of people, and cannot be taken lightly. There have been countless accidents and mishaps caused by frustrated and impatient drivers all because of their lack of respect for the other drivers on the road. Their intolerant and belligerent attitudes cost them their safety, and the safety of others.
Road rage is easily attained when driving. It is like a Dr. Jekyll/Hyde transformation, and the nicest person can completely change into a monster of the road. It happens constantly in every part of the world that has cars. Being stuck in abominable traffic can play mind tricks on you and drive you crazy and make you incredibly angry at the world, for example. The snaillike pace as you crawl along is enough to grate on anybody’s nerves. It’ll drive you mad even if you aren’t the driver.
Seeing as it is a common situation in the driving world, I believe that an anger management course should be taken as part of receiving your license. Even if you are not a naturally angry person, you will be amazed at the transformation as soon as you hit the road. An anger management course could help teach you how to handle yourself in case of a situation- which happen daily- and would help you avoid future accidents. I figure that a decent percentage of car accidents could be avoided if the proper precautions were taken.
People are in such a hurry to get where they are going and are much more important than the other drivers that they don’t stop to think about their actions- whether they could be harmful to another person. By taking a course before given permission to roam the streets, it ensures a plus of fewer accidents, and a minus on angry people. Life on the road will undoubtedly be sweeter.
Two sayings that I am reminded of are simple, but true: Better safe than sorry; and, it is better that you have it and not need it, then need it and not have it. It is better to be on the safe side of life and live a full life, then on the reckless one, and live half a one. Anger is not the way to solve any problem, and this is especially true on the road. Save yourself the hassle, it might take a little longer to hit the road, but you will be glad for it.
