Homemade ice cream is really easy and really fun for kids to make by themselves - and there is no danger of burns or cuts!

The easiest way to make it is to buy the Play and Freeze Ice Cream Maker. I absolutely love mine (I'm almost 30, by the way!). You can find out all about it at: http://www.icecreamrevolution. com/

To make it without the help of Play and Freeze, put a cup of milk or cream, a tbsp of sugar, a tbsp of flavour (chocolate chips, lemon zest, strawberries, caramel, etc) in a small container (tupperware, a mason jar, etc). Seal this container, then place it into a larger container (a coffee tin, tupperware, etc). Then fill this larger container with ice and a half cup of salt - then seal it. Then, just shake, rattle, and roll that larger container as hard as you can for about 15 minutes. Open it up, pull out the little container, and VOILA! You're eating ice cream out of that smaller container. (Note: you can also do this with bags - a small Ziplock inside a big Ziplock, then play catch!)
