Gainesville, Florida, boasts of many areas which buzz with active nightlife. There are many pubs, discotheques and restaurants which cater to the needs of citizens who especially want to have an active and wide awake night during the weekends. Noted below is a guide to active nightlife in Gainesville, FL.
• Mars Pub and Laser Tag ( http://www.marspubandlasertag.com )
Established in 2010 by Gabriel Pena and Melissa Del Valle, Mars Pub and Laser Tag has grown to occupy center stage in the nightlife of Gainesville. It is a pub, mainly for beer and wine, not suitable for dates and dinner. Beer might be more expensive than the neighboring areas, but the ambiance, decor, choice of music and games is rated high on the charts.
• Stubbies & Steins ( www.stubbieshirtpub.com )
Gainesville is famous for its apple strudel and great choice of beer. The restaurant is upbeat, entertaining and with an ambience that is pleasing to be in. The food is appetizing and rates five on the charts. The staff is friendly, helpful and prompt with their service. The décor is frequently changed to keep up with a theme or the season.
• 2nd Street Speakeasy
21 SW 2nd StGainesville,
FL 32601(352) 271-7569
This is a lounge style bar which is more for the influential crowd who can afford to visit this place. The setting is in a college town, but draws a lot of crowd because of its selection of well served cocktails. Speakeasy music is controlled by a DJ with music that keeps guests’ feet tapping. The place is lit up with laser lights and gives the whole ambience of an upper-class bar. Seating is with soft cushioned sofas unlike the high seat pub stools and wooden chairs. This lounge has been rated five stars for cocktail selection, ambience and music.
• Alcove ( www.alcovebar.com )
This is a place which falls under the category of pubs and wine bars. More famously known for its tiny space, it is not a safe bet for big groups of friends to hang around together. Those who like to visit this place as a couple will find the ambiance to complement their choice of place selection. Late evenings, this bar can tend to get crowded and those who do not like tight closed in spaces should avoid this bar. Apart from that, the beer selection is good and the staff is very friendly. It can be a great place to make new friends.
Apart from these few bars and pubs, there are nightclubs like J.D. Penquine Night Club and Lux Lounge, strip clubs like Cafe Risque and Deja Vu (exclusively for adults), and Backstage Lounge to cater for the older crowd. There are even gaming centers which cater to the needs of the Under 21 crowd too. All in all, Gainesville offer a very vibrant and entertaining nightlife setting for its citizens.
