World of Warcraft has an immense selection of addons and mods that give the user options and control over their playing experience. Some are useful, some are fun, and others just plain broken. There is everything from heal helpers, map upgrades, pet rotators, damage logs, and even addons for the role play enthusiasts. For players that have never modified their game with addons before it can seem like a daunting task. Do not be afraid, taking a moment to learn how it is done is well worth the rewards and goodies. Addons can really enhance the game, especially healers looking for an easier way to manage all their party member's health, or for treasure seekers looking for the rarest drops.
It is incredibly simple to install World of Warcraft addons on a Mac machine. The Curse Client is the ideal way to add, manage, and delete addons without any hassle.
1. Download the Curse Client for Mac here.
2. On Curse.com navigate to the WoW addons tab and pick out the desired addons. Click the orange "install via curse client button"
3. If necessary tell the program selector pop-up window "Ok" Make sure that the Curse Client IS the selected program. It should be by default.
That is it. Once the Curse Client finishes downloading the addon it will be dropped into the correct folder. Boot up World of Warcraft and use the game's addon settings to tweak the new mod as needed.Within the Curse Client it is possible to find and download addons without the need of visiting Curse.com. Simply click "Get more Addons" to the left of the Client. Browse away! Managing addons already installed is just as easy. Under "My Games" click "World of Warcraft" From here addons can be updated and removed.
Using the Curse Client may not be for everyone, though. Installing addons the old fashioned way is just as easy, albeit lacking in the bells and whistles department.
1. Download the desired addons from a trusted source, saving them somewhere they can easily be found.
2. Cut (CMD+X) the addon files from where they have been downloaded to.
3. Navigate to the drive in which WoW is installed on. Look inside the folder. I named mine World of Warcraft but it may be named Blizzard by default. From there go into Interface folder -> AddOns folder.
3. Paste (CMD+V) the addon files here.
Again, very easy.
Installing addons can be overwhelming. Not because it is difficult to do, but because the selection of addons is so overwhelmingly huge. Don't be deterred, there are addons for everyone from the casual player to the hardcore dungeon runner.
