The characteristics of the triangle face (up-base) include a wide forehead, that slightly tapers into the cheek area, and narrows down to the chin. In general, its overall shape and natural characteristics are very similar to the heart shaped face, except it has corners and angles. Jewellery pieces can be worn to accentuate your best features, while providing the illusion of width; to balance your narrow chin, and to help make your cheeks and forehead appear narrower. In order to help create a polished and well-balanced look, the choices in jewellery that you choose to wear should reflect these elements in their shapes and styles, especially jewellery styles that are worn closely to the face.
A necklace is one of the most expressive pieces of jewellery that can be worn. It can frame the face, draw attention to specific features (depending upon the color, length, size and style chosen), and accentuate personal style. Here are a few basic tips to keep in mind when choosing jewellery for a triangle face (up-base) facial shape.
Choker and collar necklaces are very popular styles. Wearing these pieces will help to soften and diminish the sharp angle of a triangle face`s narrow chin. However if your neck area is fuller, try wearing a princess length instead. Necklace styles that are designed in triple or double stranded pearls are also flattering choices. These pieces will help to create fullness at the neck area, therefore helping to balance out your wider eye and cheekbone areas.
Try to avoid opera length or longer necklaces of any style (especially if you have a long neck). Very small pearls, stones and delicate pieces that tend to lessen the visual weight within your neck area (unless you have a full neck) should also be avoided. They will only help to accentuate the sharp angle of your chin.
There are numerous shapes and styles of earrings available: ovals, buttons, drop chandeliers, hoops, studs, posts, squares, diamonds, triangles, and hearts (just to name a few). The choices seem to be endless! That’s why it’s important to choose styles, shapes and sizes that both compliment your facial shape and accentuate your personal style.
If you have an upper base triangle face shape, you are able to successfully wear any shaped earring; as long as they are widest at the bottom area (and they are wider than they are long). These styles will help to create the appearance of added width and balance to your narrow chin. Dangling earrings such as triangle shapes (which are widest at the bottom), button earrings, and teardrop styles are particularly flattering.
It`s best to avoid wearing any small studs or flat, delicate styles. All designs that are wider at the top and narrower at the bottom (as well as long, dangling earrings that are narrow) are generally unflattering choices to wear for your triangular (up-base) facial shape as well.
The most important thing to remember when choosing jewellery for yourself is that you must feel comfortable. Whichever types of styles you choose to wear, always make sure that your unique personality is able to shine through.
