Ever want to install addons in World of Warcraft but just aren't sure where to start? It may seem complicated and geeky, but enhancing the gaming experience in WoW is actually really simple and easy. It is a painless and risk free process. Anyone that can play WoW can get started with modifications and addons without the need of software or extra downloads.

-It is important to first find a safe and reliable source for addons. No one wants uninvited viral critters roaming around in their machine. Once a site or two have been settled on download away! There are tons of useful and fun addons to try out, just be sure they are the latest updated version that corresponds to WoW's latest patch. This is important as older addons that have not been updated may not be compatible with newer versions of World of Warcraft and thus won't work.

-Make sure to save the addon downloads somewhere where they can be found later. The desktop is a safe choice, can't lose them there!

-Find where WoW is installed. By default it will be located in the C:/ drive unless it was custom installed in a different drive. Typically it would be in the Programs folder or possibly a Games folder. Mine is named World of Warcraft, but the install folder may also be called Blizzard, the company name.

-Upon locating the install folder cut the downloaded addons from where they are saved and paste them into the following folder: World of Warcraft -> Interface -> Addons. Cutting and pasting is a matter of right clicking on the PC (or use Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V). For the Mac use (CMD + X) to cut and (CMD + V) to paste. Congratulations, WoW addons have been successfully installed!

-Boot up World of Warcraft to test out all the shiny new addons. Within the game's settings there is an Addons option where addons can be tweaked. Some addons have their own specific and detailed settings, particularly chatbox addons, interface enhancements, and healbots. Play around a bit with each until satisfied with their performances. Assuredly, this will be the hardest part of the entire installation process!

Not sure what kind of modifications to look for? It can be a tough job, wading through the lot of them. Some of the most popular addons include Healbot, Quest Helper, GatherMate, and Bartender. Various aspects of the game can be changed using addons, from the look and function of the interface to the level of detail on the world map, so don't hesitate to explore.
