What could have been
I dread to think what could have been
Had we stayed just one more day
Without an urgent warning
About flood water coming that day
I moved my car the night before
When water was over the end of my street
Yet, by sunrise, water was in my yard
I just could not believe
Water seem to rise so quickly
Soon it was, to waist deep.
With a high set house, all I thought
Was, it will rise up under the house.
I am glad we left that day
As by 4 am, my house was gone
I lost my home and all possessions
But saved my dear old car and my dear old dog
If I had stayed just one more day
I could have had to, be rescued by helicoper from my roof
