The Holy Bible is one of the most read books in the world, it not only brings the reader closer to God in all aspects of their lives but it also inspires the work of writers, artists, musicians and speakers all over the world as well.
The study of the Bible is one of the most important endeavors a person may undertake. Many people such as Archaeologists, Scientists, Theologists, Writers, and quite a few others have made the study of this great book their livelihood. Others have done this study as a way to reach a spiritual awareness of God and the Lord Jesus, as well as answering many of the most daunting questions known to man. However, there are many people who do not know the proper techniques used to study the Bible for the maximum understanding of the work within its pages.
The Bible itself is a work that contains 66 independent books, each book is a work unto itself while still following the same path. The book (any book) can stand alone as a story, but together they create a history, a spiritual pathway and a window into both the past and the future of an unchanging God. While the Bible is a complete work that is understandable, it is also very confusing to those who are not used to the language of this great book.
Understand the Authority
The first thing that anyone who is studying the Bible must do is to understand the authority of the book. Most people will only read books where there is proof or where there is some kind of authority figure responsible for its writing. The Bible has the ultimate authority figure, as all scripture was inspired by God, it is his information written by men and women who were a witness to the happenings of the time. It is the “Word of God” as well as being an authority on historical matters, many of which have been proven through research and archaeological measures to be true.
Choose your Reason for Studying
Many people have the wrong idea about the study of the bible, some may only study as a way to prove it wrong, while others are more concerned with historical aspects and then there are some that simply want to understand what God has done, what he is doing now and what he will do in the future. Choosing why you are studying will allow you to get a handle on what the Bible is too you. For those trying to prove the Bible wrong, the book will be as confusing to you as the day you start reading it. For those interested in historical aspects, while you will find these, the meaning behind them will allude you.
