I come from a powdered basin,
Life hides beneath the white,
Through dreary December dusk.
The 'Ganders wish to hasten
The frigid foe they fight
Yet goodbye is slow and brusque.
I come from a sun-kissed Mitten
Where summer's soft breeze
Treads lightly over the Greats.
June's rays make our people smitten,
The weather brings joy to those who listen.
West winds whisper tales of wonder
From Pacific Plains from far on yonder.
Forgetting some tales from foreign seas.
I come from the state of Michigan.
I come from a land of change.
I love the state I'm living in,
Everywhere else is strange!

I am from the cool moss that kisses my feet in the day
and makes me shiver at night
