Sugar, sweetness that melts the morning coffee highlights the chocolate covered croissant and lives in the natural foods grown right here on planet earth. Other names for sugar are sucrose, which is formed from glucose and fructose, also known as simpler sugars. By simpler it means less atoms to make up the molecules. Kicking this habit is not as easy as one may think, considering the abundance alone. Sugar is practically in everything, from ordinary table sugar, candy, soda, juice, and microwavable meals. Remember if it doesn’t say sugar check for the aliases dextrose, sucrose, fructose, corn syrup, and glucose. The question is how to kick it, but the first question is why?
The natural processes of the human body are made to take in fuel, food is that fuel. Deepak Chopra published in his cookbook, the body is fed through the food you put in it. If the food is synthetically made, in other words engineered then it is not naturally found in the environment. Sugar, the white crystallized substance found near every coffee stand, kitchen cupboard and Starbucks is not naturally found in the environment. The same goes for white flour, the package clearly states it is bleached, enriched or stripped. Another way of saying it is the natural form of the plant has been feed through a multi-step process for refinement and consumption. Quite literally the sugar found in yellow, blue, pink and white packages are manufactured and therefore not a natural food ingredient.
How does that affect the body? The analogy of an engine fits best when discussing the human body, similar to the body a car runs on gasoline. The heat of the fuel, or flashpoint, is the designation of the combustion that makes the engine power the car. Going fast is determined by the amount of pressure applied to the accelerator, but most people know that putting racing fuel in a Honda does not create a race car. Jet fuel or racing fuel is built for engines that run at higher speeds normally. Sugar is the jet fuel to natural sugars found in foods like an apple. Medically speaking, it is called a lower glycemic index. The apple contains vitamins, natural sugar and carbohydrates that the body process in a timely fashion to release energy.
Kicking the habit of sugar requires a mental twist in thinking, remembering first that the human body is created as a biological machine. Feeding it the foods that are found in the natural environment increase its running potential. The second mental hurdle is simple: redefine the term energy. Sugar that is refined and processed, that’s all those packages colored yellow, blue, pink and white, is not a naturally processed food. Energy comes from supply, if putting racing fuel into a Honda does not get you a faster car, chances are white sugar does not get you a faster body. In reality the biological process overloads due to the absorption rate through the intestinal wall and the body crashes without the balance of carbs and vitamins. The science of food is exactly that, a science proved through study and research. Glucose, sucrose, dextrose and fructose are not naturally found in food without some form of engineering. Change the way you think about your body and change your energy level.
