The Truth
Everyone around the world just wants to hear the truth. No one wants someone else to lie to him or her, but it happens. However, the truth is important. It has historical significance. In Europe, the truth is where the concept of nobility was born. Without the truth, this would not exist.
Honor was born of the word honesty. Honesty is just another word for speaking the truth. There were several things associated with western nobility, though, and honesty was only one of them, but it was a significant detail. To be noble, other noble’s were supposed to be able to trust you. To be trustworthy was to be honorable. Truth and trust were siblings. Knights of old fought to the death to defend thier honor and integrety and the truth of their words.
The truth is not always cut and dry, though. There is the truth of our perception and the truth of our environment and these things change as quickly as the seconds on an atomic clock. With every new thing we as human beings learn, weather from outside sources or from within, our perception of the truth is adjusted, tweaked, and modified. A fear of spiders may have changed with the simple realization that we are not helpless against them. This adjusts our perception from having these eight-legged horrors intimidating us to being completely indifferent to them.
Furthermore, what we might have thought was the truth in the natural world could very well be wrong with the gift of new information. As our technology becomes more refined, we find things about our world and our universe that turns what we thought we knew as the truth completely on its head.
