Candles, candles and more candles! The great thing about candles is that you can buy them just about anywhere in a variety of colors and at a variety of prices. Certain seasonal candles may go on clearance at the end of that season. And certain discount stores and dollar stores may have regular low prices on their candles all year long. Either way, you're bound to find good prices on candles throughout the year.
My first suggestion for using candles as holiday decoration is to keep the quantity of other decor types low if using a lot of candles. With a lot of candles and too many other items sitting around, it can be dangerous and look a bit too crowded. Plus, the candles have their own beautiful affect. No need to clutter the area. My second suggestion for candles as holiday decor is to mix different sizes together in one area, either on a platter, a candle plate or your own creation. It's easy to create your own "candle platter" with a round piece of cardboard and some aluminum foil. You can jazz it up by sprinkling some colored glitter around on the platter. And my final candle suggestion is for use in the bathroom. Yes, the bathroom! Pull back or remove your shower curtain from the tub. Then fill up the tub about halfway with water and put some floating candles in. Also add some regular candles to the edge of the tub and to the countertop. It makes for a much more pleasant environment in the bathroom since you know everyone is most likely going to visit that room at least once during your party.
Candles can certainly be expensive if you don't watch it. But if you check the stores for seasonal sales and the dollar stores for regular low prices, you will be impressed by the beautiful decoration you can create at your holiday party. Enjoy!
