Avoiding the after-graduation blues involves getting busy, planning for the short term and long term, and getting to know your own likes and dislikes. Being busy will help the graduate forget the longing for a childhood that is now gone. The future can hold limitless possibilities. As you think about how you want to take on life as an adult, you can start by looking inward and begin figure out who you are and what you want.

Getting to Know You

Knowing what you like to do and what your talents are can help you avoid wasting money on directionless college courses. If you already have an idea of what you would like to do as a career you can try and volunteer in your field or try to get an entry level position. Seeking out internships is a good way to discover what you may like to do as a career. This can help you get a reality check as to whether that field is really the one that you want to choose to go into. Spending time in the library or reading in general can help you explore avenues of your likes and dislikes. After graduation is also a wonderful time to travel, but it will be most constructive to travel with purpose. Have a clear objective in mind. Doing this can, again help you avoid the money wasting that can be done on a vacation taken merely for recreational purposes. Traveling with a purpose might mean touring a factory, vineyard, or somewhere you can explore avenues of any career you have been thinking of going in to.

Planning Short Term and Long Term

Short term plans might mean just trying to make it through the summer, but it also means deciding if you want to jump right into school or take more time exploring who you are and what you want for your future. No decision should be made in an instant. It's a good idea to make more than one plan, which will open up your options. You also won't be disappointed if something doesn't go exactly as planned. Short term plans beat boredom. Sitting around the house wondering, "what now?" is not the best way to plan for yourself. Even though most college plans are made in your senior year of high school, it's not too late if you waited until the last minute. Community College is an option. Making some kind of plan for the next month or even few years might mean researching and visiting where you would like to study. The best planning is done with the knowledge that you may still be developing tastes, talents, and interests.

Getting Busy

Doing nothing is the best way to perpetuate depression and boredom. The last thing you want to do is create a directionless life right after your done with school. Enrolling in college classes is the most obvious way to get busy in a productive way. Getting busy with any hobby is a wonderful way to create happiness. If you like to cook, then cook. Work in a restaurant over the summer. If you like to work out, then work out. If you like to paint, then paint. If you like to arrange There are many jobs that exist that start with a hobby.

There are many ways of beating boredom after graduation. Get busy. Make plans. Finally, find out who you are and how you want to spend your life. You may have undiscovered talents and interest that just need exploring. Get out there and love whatever it is that you decide to do.
