TV and I have carried on a lifetime friendship. When I was young, I looked forward to Saturday morning cartoons. It was great to laugh at the antics of "Yogi Bear" or "Tom and Jerry". It was a nice break after a week of going to school, and doing chores and homework. It also was a great help to my parents because it kept us entertained as they slept in on Saturday morning.

As a family, some shows became tradition. We never missed "Wizard of Oz" or a "It's a Wonderful Life." Sunday evening we all sat around and watched "Lassie" and "The Wonderful World of Disney."

Today, I enjoy escaping into the world of fantasy and fiction displayed on the tube. With the touch of a button, I can be at a crime scene or on some exotic island. I can laugh at the modern caricatures of family life or cry at the real life horror displayed on the news.

Just like friendships change with the passing of time, so has my friendship with TV.
What once was a family activity has become a lone adventure. I still enjoy it but today I enjoy it differently.
