If you provide fabulous merchandise through your business, that is fine but it will only take you so far. In order to make your business last for a long time, you must provide outstanding service. You will learn the qualities a business has that constitutes good customer service.
The first includes reliability. The first way you must do it is to be consistent in running your store on a daily basis in regard to always providing certain items, especially those that interest your customers the most. The second is to keep enough copies of each item you sell in stock. The third is to honor all of the promises you make in your advertising and announcements.
The second includes being knowledgeable. It is important to know your goods inside out in regard to what they do and how they work. It is also necessary to know where everything is located in your store.
The third includes keeping your cool. When customers complain, you must stay calm and try to help them solve their problems; however, if they start to badger you or get out of hand, you should either walk away or order them to leave.
The fourth includes showing concern for the customers. One way you can do it is to ask if you can help them find something, especially if they have been walking around for a while without paying attention to any items. Another is to ask if they found everything they need once they come to the checkout counter.
The fifth includes having a good return policy. One thing you should do is allow the customers to bring back any item you sell within a month for a refund or exchange, provided that they bring their receipts. Another thing you should do is be cheerful while handling the returns.
The sixth includes having the right attitude. One thing you must do is smile. Another is to refrain from arguing with customers and insulting them. You must do what you can to accommodate them, as they are the reason for your success.
The seventh includes making the customers’ shopping and web site browsing experience pleasant. The first thing you must do is keep your store and web site well organized and free of clutter. The second is to make sure your customers do not have to wait long to have their purchases rung up or get a response to their inquiries. The third is to provide variety in your line of merchandise in regard to offering various sizes, models, colors, etc.
The eighth includes being accommodating. The first way you can do it is to provide shipping that is quick and free or low-cost. The second is to be flexible in terms of offering various prices and discounts. The third is to provide a toll-free telephone number and perhaps a live-help line on your web site.
